Still climbing at 85

How old are you? Thinking of retiring? Really?

Fred at 82 in 2005, at Alaska Range

Fred Beckey, born in 1923, is today 86 and still climbing mountains.

So – unless you are older than that, shame on you for thinking of retirement!

He is a legend in mountain climbing.

Life & death of some apostrophes

Long life to the apostrophe!

However, apparently not.

Birmingham City Council in Britain had decided to drop apostrophes from its street signs eg ‘St Johns Road’ and not ‘St John’s Road’.

Oops...the Lady is without her aspostrophe!

Ah, this Saint has hers on!

Have you thought about your blog - gone forever?

Your created presence on the internet terminated.

The host pulled the plug on you.

Yahoo! did that on 27th October 2009 when it shut down the host servers of GeoCities.

I used to have a site there. I still remember the different neighbourhoods you could choose to have your site in.

I stopped liking it when Yahoo! bought it over and changed some of the stuff.

It was not classic any more.

You remember GeoCities – ?

Had a site there too?

If you had not saved it, it is gone now. Forever.

Some had tried to download and save as many of the sites hosted on GeoCities before the shutdown. Most are gone. Forever.
